We have a vacancy for a front-end developer.  

The Position

Sunny Side Up, founded in 2003, has delivered close to 200 digital projects.

Being a small team, you will work directly with all stakeholders to make decisions and deliver results. Our customers range from iconic New Zealand brands, via several government agencies, and a few big corporations, through to startups and small NGOs. In other words: the work is super varied, challenging, and invigorating as you will be a pivotal player in our projects; with the ability to create your own areas of interest and expertise. 

This is a salaried position of between 20 and 40 hours a week.  

Our office is located in the Botanical Gardens, near the top of the cable car.


About Sunny Side Up

We work as a high trust team, internally as well as with our clients. This enables us to be honest with each other, with a focus on getting things done. 

We love technology, but we also love simplicity and being offline. Our goal is to make the world a little better with technology, not to make our lives more technical. 

Also, we are big fans of open source and we are keen on sustainability.

Our approach

On the back-end, we mainly use Silverstripe but we also work with the Craft CMS, Wordpress, Shopify, and SquareSpace. 

On the front-end, we are using Webpack, React, Vue, and we are keen to get into Gatsby. 


The ideal candidate

We are looking for a team player who is passionate about turning beautiful design into accessible front-end solutions, using best practice. 

You must have a proven track record of at least three years full-time as a web developer. 

 Required Technical Skills

You have a lot of experience with:

  • Javascript
  • CSS,
  • Webpack, Angular, React, or Vue, and
  • Silverstripe or another PHP based back-end framework

… and ideally, you also know a thing or two about: 

  • Gatsby
  • Wordpress
  • Shopify
  • SquareSpace
  • Craft CMS
  • Linux
  • Apache
  • Mysql
  • Git
  • Composer
  • and related technologies

Other skills
